Several artists based in the Blackdown Hills were given commissions to make work which reflects the past and present industry in the hills. We will be hosting a group exhibition in September, during Somerset Arts Week.
Sky Dancing (working title), is an exploration of flight and dance, based on research around Dunkeswell Airfield.
The airfield was occupied by the Americans during the Second World War. Part of my research is based on the memories of people who went to dances up at the airfield with the Americans, during the war.
During my research process, I interviewed skydivers and pilots. I may be using these recordings for my film.
